Wärtsilä has chosen Lujatalo as the main contractor for the construction of Smart Technology Hub in Vaskiluoto, Vaasa, Finland. The gross area for the Smart Technology Hub is 58.000 m2 and for the office-building 15.000 m2. Lujatalo´s regional unit in Ostrobothnia is responsible for the construction and has executed big projects successfully. The construction of the Smart Technology Hub will employ 250-300 construction workers in the Vaasa area – both Lujatalo´s own employees as well as suppliers.

“It´s great that we get to start the construction of the Smart Technology Hub together with a forerunner in sustainable construction, Lujatalo. During the spring we have put out the construction process for tender and very carefully selected the contractor based on the offer and previous references. Lujatalo could offer the most comprehensive solution, a solution which is also possible to implement within the schedule at hand,” says Vesa Riihimäki, Managing Director, Wärtsilä Finland Oy.

”Projects like these are our core competence. We have been involved in numerous big projects, especially within the capital region. Designers have a main role. The project led contract form is well suited for these kind of big projects, where the main concept is led by the buyer, and the main task of the contractor is to optimate and support. The main focus in projects like these is the open co-operation between the two parties,” says Heimo Hantula, Regional Director for Ostrobothnia at Lujantalo.

The construction work will start after the excavation work in the beginning of autumn 2019.
